Is acupuncture painful?

Since needles are the main tools used in acupuncture, most of people are somehow afraid of trying it. The reality is that the needles used in acupuncture are extremely fine and they cause minimal pain. Most patients experience a relaxing painless treatment. however there are some acupoints (points on body surface used for acupuncture treatment) which are more painful than others. For those points some techniques are used to decrease the pain. Putting all together, acupuncture is not painless; but, its pain is not that much to cause discomfort.
